Red Paper Clip Challenge
In small groups the AVID 12's started off with just one paper clip to trade up to another object, and so on and so on. The groups had one hour to see what they could eventually trade up to, with some surprising results.
AVID 12 - Starving Student Project
The grade 12's are asked to contribute a recipe which is not only nutritious and easy to make, but economical for the cash-strapped university student living away from home. Students are required to demonstrate how to make their meal in person or video the process. Here are a few projects, including the compilation of recipes from the 2013 AVID 12's.

Ramen Noodle Design Thinking Challenge
Hmmm ... how to design a better Ramen noodle eating experience? Step 1, interview noodle eaters and identify their needs. Come up with some creative ideas and get some feedback. Next, develop a prototype and present your ideas. Go back to the drawing board if needed to tweak your design.
